I love the gemstones in the ring! The only thing I don't like about the ring is the prongs. They were sticking out a little bit and caught onto my clothing. I can't believe how much cheaper colored stones are compared to diamonds. With the exception of rubies and sapphires, every other colored is valued at a fraction of the price. It's like a difference of $2000 and $200. Don't get me wrong, I understand why diamonds are so popular. They have a sparkle and shine that's unique to them, but I can't really justify the price difference especially in larger sized stones. My partner and decided to do some research and see what kind of alternatives we could find. We found this website and they had an abundance of information for us. Looking at the durability, the hardness of rubies and sapphires second best compared to diamonds followed by garnet and topaz. We decided to pass on the ruby and sapphire as the centerstone because we wanted to save our money and get a more elaborate ring. So we picked garnet. We thought the deep rest would look nice with lots of smaller diamonds around it. And in a bezel setting, the ring would be secure and safe. The final piece came out amazing! We were very happy with the choices we made.
